BIG IN BAVARIA:
-
First pictures of the dirt jumps and confirmed riders
Munich, Germany , June 26th 2009 – Still four weeks are left till the BIKE EXPO and BIG IN BAVARIA dirt jump competition in Munich on July 23rd to 26th. But the building of the dirt jumps is already in full progress. The first doubles are shaped and the starting tower is finished. It’s not only the dirt line that is worth a look. The list of confirmed riders also gives a preview of the first class BMX action you can expect.
About 1.200 tons of dirt have been used to form the super sized dirt jump course of the BIG in Bavaria so far. And 800 tons are still up to come. The course building had to be postponed due to the bad weather conditions in southern Germany during the last week. But the pictures of the now existing jumps already promise a lot of airtime. The needed speed is guaranteed by a eight meters (about 25 feet) high starting tower including a steep bank followed by a smooth step down jump and the first double that has an 11 meters (about 35 feet) gap in between! But these are only the first hits for the overall 180 (about 200 yards) meters long dirt line with a whole bunch of jumps, including a section with parallel lines. The transfers will be as much fun for the spectators as for the riders, that’s for sure. The big names can’t wait for it and are already confirmed, so watch out for:

You have to keep in mind that the big dirt line and an overall prize money of 20,000 Euros will secure only the most hardcore action. You could say that mental fitness has to meet mindless sickness to throw down your hardest tricks on those huge hitters. Shouldn’t be a problem for the crazy pros from all over the world to go big in Bavaria!
