     Murray in the News

Today marks two years that Professional BMX Rider Stephen Murray was injured in competition which caused life altering injuries and ultimately leaving him a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the shoulders down. The single father of two amazing young boys, remains active in the BMX community and travels making appearances as much as his health will allow. He's a regular at the local BMX track "The Compound" where he brings his two sons to ride. Stephen has also started an apparel & accessories collection with long time friend & manager Kimarie Hunt. Stay Strong Apparel, established in 2007 was once just a saying and a single "t shirt" to show support to Stephen, has now the makings for a very successful corporation. Kimarie has brought the apparel Worldwide. You can find Stay Strong Apparel & Collection in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and more recently Hungary & Poland.  Action Sports shops and online distribution such as danscomp.com & alansbmx in the UK.
Media has been instrumental in keeping Stephen's name & cause in the public eye. He has been featured on NBC, FUEL, MTV 2, TRL, BBC, HBO, ESPN and many local networks and magazines and newspapers. Kimarie has said, "we have all learned so much from Stephen and what strength & courage is really about". She ad's, "Stay Strong, is not just a saying, but a way of life, and how we have learned to live our's"

BIG IN BAVARIA:
-
First pictures of the dirt jumps and confirmed riders

Munich, Germany , June 26th 2009 – Still four weeks are left till the BIKE EXPO and BIG IN BAVARIA dirt jump competition in Munich on July 23rd to 26th. But the building of the dirt jumps is already in full progress. The first doubles are shaped and the starting tower is finished. It’s not only the dirt line that is worth a look. The list of confirmed riders also gives a preview of the first class BMX action you can expect.

About 1.200 tons of dirt have been used to form the super sized dirt jump course of the BIG in Bavaria so far. And 800 tons are still up to come. The course building had to be postponed due to the bad weather conditions in southern Germany during the last week. But the pictures of the now existing jumps already promise a lot of airtime. The needed speed is guaranteed by a eight meters (about 25 feet) high starting tower including a steep bank followed by a smooth step down jump and the first double that has an 11 meters (about 35 feet) gap in between! But these are only the first hits for the overall 180 (about 200 yards) meters long dirt line with a whole bunch of jumps, including a section with parallel lines. The transfers will be as much fun for the spectators as for the riders, that’s for sure. The big names can’t wait for it and are already confirmed, so watch out for:

Name (Nation/Team)

 Cameron White (AUS/Mongoose)
 Corey Bohan (AUS/Giant)
 Dave Dillewaard (AUS/GT)
 Josh Stead (AUS)
 Luke Parslow (AUS/Forgotten Bikes)
 Ryan Guettler (AUS/MirraCo)
 Alejandro Caro (COL/wethepeople)
 Christian Porras (COL)
 Alex Dropsi (FRA/Twenty)
 Nicolas Bertier (FRA/Dragonfly)
 Patrick Guimez (FRA/Koxx)
 Romuald Noirot (FRA/MacNeil)
 Benn Hennon (GBR/Seventies)
 Kye Forte (GBR/United Bikes)
 Markus Hampl GER/Twenty)
 Simon Moratz (GER/Felt)
 Anthony Napolitan (USA/Hoffman Bikes)
 Chris Doyle (USA/Kink Bikes)
 Heath Pinter (USA/Giant)
 James Foster (USA/KHE)
 Mike Clark (USA/Redline)
 Ricardo Laguna (USA)
 TJ Ellis (USA/Bulldog Bikes)

You have to keep in mind that the big dirt line and an overall prize money of 20,000 Euros will secure only the most hardcore action. You could say that mental fitness has to meet mindless sickness to throw down your hardest tricks on those huge hitters. Shouldn’t be a problem for the crazy pros from all over the world to go big in Bavaria!
