THE GET IT FLAT JAM

06.03.09

Chris Morse aka Snotty on the war path

Chris Morse AKA SNOTTY.

Two old style quarter pipes stacked on either side of some stairs, a sketchy run up, a man on a mission.

The "Get It Flat" jam put together by Dean Dickinson was a benefit held at Shad Johnson's house in Portland, Oregon. The set up was two eight foot quarters set on opposite sides of a set of stairs.  Snotty, Chester Blacksmith, Roman Tenzca, John Ivers, Bristol, Caleb Ruecker and many others were a part of the session.
Some of the highlights of the competition include a brief long jump competition that ended with Tony T getting a head injury and a trip to the hospital. Soon after the jam continued with local heavy hitters tearing up the ramp. Roman Tenzca shut the place down within the first hour with big no handers and flairs over the channel. Snotty and John Ivers entertained the crowd with large airs and tables over the channel. Bristol pulled an old school 540 after several attempts as well. John Ivers, who came up from Oakland, had a run in with a local sheriff Literally! After coming down from airing the channel he made a quick stop, bouncing off a passing cop car. Strange things happen in Portland and this wasn't any different. The Sheriff simply stepped out, made an insulting comment, and when on his way. Considering the sketchy run up through intersections and across a busy road, 95 degree weather, a hospital trip, and two visits from the cops the jam was a success. Who knows what Dean has planned for the next benefit.
